[LambspentaweekatNetherStoweyinJuly，1797.ColeridgetellsSoutheyofthisvisitinaletterwritteninthatmonth:"CharlesLambhasbeenwithmeforaweek.HeleftmeFridaymorning.TheseconddayafterWordsworth[whohadjustleftRacedown，nearCrewkerne，forAlfoxden，nearStowey]cametome，dearSaraaccidentallyemptiedaskilletofboilingmilkonmyfoot，whichconfinedmeduringthewholetimeofC.Lambsstayandstillpreventsmefromallwalkslongerthanafurlong."ThisisthecauseofLambsallusiontoColeridgesleg，anditalsoproducedColeridgespoembeginning"Thislime-treebowermyprison，"addressedtoLamb，whichopensasfollows，thefriendsinthefourthlinebeingLamb，WordsworthandDorothyWordsworth.（Wordsworthwasthentwenty-seven.TheLyricalBalladsweretobewritteninthenextfewmonths.）
